What we did NOT expect was to drive away with a brand new car 3 days later. John wasn't throwing us sales pitches or trying to shove us into a car we didn't want.     "The service person that helped me was very nice but there was one situation that really bothered me. When I got my Mini back I was told that there was a "brake sensor" (I think that's what it was called) that was faulty and needed to be replaced. We discussed when that would need to be done and I was told that it would not be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. I was really surprised that I would be responsible for paying for something that was faulty when I bought the car! When I pressed the service man about paying for the sensor, he tried to speak with Levi, but he was not available. The service man agreed that I shouldn't have to pay for the faulty brake sensor. So, they took my car back to the shop and proceeded to replace said sensor. Magically, the faulty sensor was no longer faulty and did not require replacement. I have to admit this really bothered me. For two reasons. First I had to wonder if I was being taken advantage of because I was a woman and I didn't really understand what was going on. And second, why, when I spoke up and said I didn't think I should have to pay for a brake sensor that came faulty on the car in the first place, that suddenly it was really okay and didn't need to be replaced???? That just really seemed strange to me. Would they have told me the same thing if I would have just agreed to pay to have the sensor replaced?? This whole situation really disappointed and upset me. I love my Mini Cooper, but I did not love how I felt when I left after getting it serviced that day! PS The service that I was told should have taken 1 1/2 hours at the most, took 3 hours and I had an appointment! Even with the brake sensor fiasco, that shouldn't have been the case.     "There has to be a better way of handling important service issues. When I called to report a 'check engine light' on - coupled with a lack of power, I was told that the first possible appointment was one week away. Also that there was no availability of loaner or other assistance. After talking to service and sales (the car is 9 weeks old) then a loaner became available and the service was completed in 5 days (it was a faulty thermostat). In today's market I do not think it appropriate that there was no way to - at a minimum - diagnose a problem to determine whether the car was drivable with the indicated fault status.     "We took our car in and was told it needed a part. An appt was scheduled for over a week later and we were assured the part would be in. We rearranged things to be at Mini on the day of the appt, a snowy day, only to be told the part wasn't in. No one called to tell us. We were told we would be contacted later that day.
